Dear Valued American National Homeowner Clients,
You may have already received or will soon receive a letter from American National regarding their decision to non-renew homeowner policies in California later this year. We have been preparing for this since the announcement was made to insurance agents.
As part of our preparation, our insurance corporation, Hart Eastman, Inc., DBA Custom CA Insurance Agency, has launched the website CAInsuranceNow.com. We now work with many insurance companies that offer homeowners insurance in California, and we will be able to provide you with competitive rates because we now work with multiple carriers.
We will help you find a new home insurance policy.
We are working hard to prepare each of our current American National non-renewing homeowner clients for a smooth transition to another insurance carrier.
At least one month before your policy expires due to non-renewal, we will:
- Contact you to set a time to talk.
- Provide you with a quote and help you understand it.
- Secure your insurance with a new insurance carrier.
What won’t change after your policy non-renews with American National?
- You will still work directly with me and my team.
- You will still have me as your insurance advisor.
- You will still get the same superior service and best advice to ensure you’re properly covered.
While we understand that change can be challenging, we are here to make this transition as easy as possible for you. We believe that our new brokerage and website will provide you with the solutions you need.

Why is American National leaving California?
Several insurance carriers are finding the Home insurance industry is not profitable in California due to multiple factors including inflationary pressures, increased frequency of claims, and severity of weather events. Read more from Newsweek.
When will my policy non-renew?
American National home and rental policies will start non-renewing on August 18, 2024. Therefore, if your policy expires before this date, it will be renewed with American National for another 12-month term.
What happens to my American National auto insurance and other policies?
American National will continue to offer auto and other insurance policies, including umbrella, watercraft, recreational vehicles, life insurance and annuities.
Will California Insurance Now find me a new homeowners policy?
Yes! Our brokerage is here to help find the best and most affordable policy for you. This service is at no cost to you. The insurance carrier pays us a commission percentage of the premium on the policy. We will meet with you to review your new quote options and explain the insurance coverage.
Is there any advantage to switching insurance companies before my policy expiration date?
While this might seem like a good idea, the options currently in the marketplace will likely be more expensive. Therefore, we encourage you to take advantage of your existing rate with American National for the remaining term. We’ll help you switch to a new insurance carrier as your policy expires.
